Coyt-Tower

Coyt Tower (Coit Tower) – Memorial Tower, located in Pioneer Park (Pioneer Park) on the top of the telegraph hill (Telegraph Hill). From the observation deck of the tower opens a unique view of San Francisco. Thanks to this fact, the tower is a favorite place to visit tourists.

Built in 1933, the tower got its name in honor of Lilly Hitchcock Coyt (Lillie Hitchcock Coit). This eccentric lady left the memory as a voluntary remover of firefighters. Only the fact of assistance, of course, would not allow to give the name to the Memorial, however, the round sum was helped, Lilly left in the will. Contrary to popular belief, the tower does not repeat the shape of the fire hose nozzle. Constructed from reinforced concrete tower has a height of 64 meters. Inside the tower you can see the frescoes open to universal ferris, made by California artists, but most tourists are not interested in frescoes, but an amazing view that opens from the observation deck. Bridge «Golden Gate», Maritime National Historic Park, Alcatraz, Pier 39, Treasure Island and Angel Island, Auckland Bay Bridge, Rashen Hill, Lombard Street and Much – All this will appear before your eyes with Coyt Tower.

To familiarize yourself with the coit-tower, it will be estimated for 1-2 hours of time. About half an hour to look around and an hour on the tower itself. The best look opens in the evening before sunset.
